High Context Studios is an AI Company Studio. We start AI-native companies that take over how their industries actually operate — the work that's too judgment-heavy, too context-heavy, and too trust-sensitive for generic AI to carry.

The conditions for building have inverted. Small teams with deep domain expertise are producing more substantive companies than large generalist teams with broad funding — and AI-native companies built around specific industries are leaving the prior generation of bloated, generic platforms behind. The right structure for this moment isn't a fund, a holding company, or a single big company chasing every workflow. It's a studio with the operational capacity to build deeply in one industry at a time.

Each company we start is its own venture, built end-to-end around the industry it serves. The studio provides the capital and operational capacity — building, design, AI engineering — and cultivates the domain expertise each company needs through two channels.

Channel One

Advisory partnerships

Industry executives and operators who bring deep working knowledge of how each business actually runs. Lending professionals shape Visra. Executive assistants and chiefs of staff shape Avery. Editorial leaders shape Bylinedesk.

Channel Two

Anchor enterprise partners

Real-world customers who use each company in production from the start — anchoring each platform in actual industry conditions, and informing the work as it develops.

What we commit to each company is operational depth from day zero. The studio designs, builds, ships, and continues to operate alongside each company as it scales — not an incubate-and-exit relationship, but a long-term operational partnership.

The result is AI-native companies that run real industry workflows from launch — built deeply, operated continuously, accountable to the people they serve. Not generic AI platforms trying to translate themselves into industries afterward. Visra (lending), Avery (executive scheduling), and Bylinedesk (editorial operations) are live in production. More are taking shape.

Daniel Putterman
Daniel Putterman Founding Partner

Daniel started High Context Studios after three decades of building companies that do one thing: consolidate fragmented industry stacks into single operating layers. The pattern has run through his work since he was a teenager.

He left middle school at twelve to study computer science at UCLA. At sixteen, Microsoft Press published his first book on programming. By twenty-two, he had co-founded EoExchange — the operating layer for business research, replacing the patchwork of general-purpose search with one vertically-focused platform. He raised over $40 million and brought the company to S1 filing.

Then Mediabolic — the operating layer for connected streaming media. Fragmented codecs, devices, and distribution collapsed into a single platform used by the world's top consumer electronics manufacturers, winning multiple best-in-show awards at CES and acquired by Rovi (TiVo) as the foundation of its video streaming infrastructure. Then Pogoplug — the operating layer for personal cloud storage, replacing scattered remote-access tools with one consumer and enterprise system, distributed worldwide through mass retailers and telecom carriers in a deep partnership with SoftBank.

Kogniz — the operating layer for real-time video analytics in physical workspaces. Its advanced fever detection brought thousands of frontline workers back to their facilities during the height of the pandemic. Pawscout — the operating layer for pet identification and community at consumer scale, now shipping more than a million smart tags across over fifteen thousand retail locations in the US and Canada.

What's different now is that AI lets the consolidation pattern go further than software alone could. The companies Daniel built before consolidated tools and workflows; the companies High Context Studios is starting today consolidate the work itself. That made starting a studio — rather than starting another single company — the right structure for this moment: operational capacity dedicated to building one industry-deep AI company at a time, alongside operators and advisors who carry the domain expertise the studio doesn't try to fake.

The conviction that drives the studio: the most valuable AI isn't generic. It's domain-deep, workflow-shaped, and trust-aware. Daniel has been building toward this configuration for thirty years. High Context Studios is the vehicle he believes the moment demands.
